INLAND EMPIRE - David Lynch. Subtitle: what?!

"Hey, David ... What are you doing?"

I do not know, I can not express a sensible opinion on the latest film by Lynch, which for me will always be a genius, one of the most visionary and revolutionary.
But this does not get it. Ok, I will say that the others were not so very clear. But this does not have rhyme or reason ... that we can be, but the film is ultimately indigestible. According to Lynch brings me to the extreme consequences of his films, his art, not so much gigioneria for tirarsela for a living or his status as a director of worship. It does so because he had the opportunity to do so (thanks all'economicissimo digital, with which it was made), it is because he is so, period. It is not an intellectual. This is pure Lynch. And I doubt that Lynch is better than a bit 'held back by the producers ... a hint of a script.
Here is a script, not in history but in the construction of symbolic references, which are gathered in the film and give sense of it all. But we often faced with unnecessary scenes just too long and too silly. Three hours of film, with some sequences from anthologies and hitting, you are left in the mind but also with so much boredom ...
Someone said that this movie or you love it or hate ... I have hated and loved at the same time.
not know, maybe the importance of this film.
Sometimes I say that is really disgusting ... other times I look and meditate there. So for me right now, you can not judge ... we are faced with an object movie that is not part of this time, born in the wrong coordinates ... Music
really beautiful and disturbing. Model fantstico
some, others like the wood ... I've never endured Dern.
However, to understand who is Lynch, so here is her comment: "
do not know why people expect art to be meaningful, since it accepts the idea that life is meaningless."
Last note ... I have a lot of biblical references.
Here, I feel like coming to see him again. Lynch Damn!

Macys Dressy Jumpsuits

Golden Door - Emanuele Crialese

few words about this film, seen yesterday in a film club.
Beautiful, truly remarkable. It was not nominated for an Oscar as best foreign film, but I at least would have deserved the nomination.
The film tells the story of a Sicilian family who embarks for America in the early twentieth century. The film portrays a historical event with a cut dream. Departure is from the movie realistic, with a beautiful description of the harsh lives of Sicilian peasants. But realism is then told in a surreal way, creating a nice combination, strong and very modern. The film recounts the journey of the protagonists progressing to view and concepts. The high points are its scenes of dreams, he falls a bit 'in the rhetoric in the final moments, where it is highlighted the treatment of Italians from the Americans. It can be described as almost a surreal-realist film. Particular the fact that never show this "Golden Door", which remains as an ideal destination. In fact I do not even seem like you never talk to America or the United States, but only Golden Door.
unique photographs, especially the performers, all really good. Charlotte Gainsbourg courageous, brave his father, the boy mute, but the great old mother of extraordinary power. With a look and even without speaking, able to convey so much. only flaw is given by the subtitles. The film is almost entirely in Sicilian dialect. But you do not understand how they are used for subtitles: sometimes appear even when you understand the dialogue, sometimes when not needed are not there. Film remarkable and worth seeing.

Leather Bracelets That You Can Get At Disneyland

Shock - Mario Bava (1977)

They're getting a bit 'out of ideas for post ... I have some backlog of films I want to talk.
Tonight I want to spend but a few words about Shock , the last true film directed by Maestro Mario Bava. Two years later dates under the direction of the Venus d'Ille , television movie filmed in large part by his son Lamberto. But Shock can be considered the latest work by the great director-craftsman.

Dora comes to life in the big house with his son and second husband Mark Bruno. Years before her husband Charles had committed suicide, plunging deeper into depression Dora. Arrived begin to occur, however, strange phenomena and little Marco behaves really strange.

News scattered, with some spoilers.
Considered by many as a child of Light, in fact reserve many surprises. The son Lamberto worked in part to the director and screenplay with Francesco Barbieri, Paul and the great Brigenti Dardano Sacchetti ( The cat o 'nine tails and chain reaction). Compared to previous films of Bava with fewer inventions, directed a more "peaceful". The screenplay is holding throughout the film and offers a beautiful final, solid and legitimate. Light seems to be caught by the story (however simple and already seen), the idea is brilliant flashes, solutions that take your breath away and strike. There are also commonplace in absurd dialogues, one in every sentence spoken by the child, very seriously, "Mom, I have to kill you ...". Cold stare of the mother ... History
although trivial (compared to the often intricate plots proposed by Mario) shows the steps curious and very up to date at the time. Very curious is the child's relationship with his mother, who is often confused with the old one between husband and Dora. The child manifests the will of the ghost of his father with respect, even from a sexual point of view. But here we do not fall into the vulgar.

Dora is played by Daria Nicolodi, Dario Argento time companion, with whom he had written Suspiria, directed in the same period. The Nicolodi is also the mother of Asia. The actress cries throughout the film, but it is really convincing in the part. Light
you leave take the fashion of the films of Argento and insert a column and some progressive rock music, composed of Libra in the footsteps of the Goblin. But the music is excellent and the best way the story goes.
Some suggestions: more points seem to see The House Sam Raimi, 1981. The piano that comes to life and ride, the idea of \u200b\u200bthe cellar, the musical accompaniment. Raimi must have had in mind this little gem, not perfect but nice Bava. Look at the network, or rather read monographs on Mario Bava, you big surprises: Light is the true master of Silver and other Italian and foreign general, quoted by many but remembered by few.

Why Belly Button Hurts After C Section

The three impostors - Arthur Machen

I just finished reading The three impostors, a masterpiece by Arthur Machen in 1895.
This is a novel made up of several seemingly unrelated stories, but in fact connected by a precise plot, which will be revealed at the end. Mr. Dyson and Mr. Phillipps two friends are very different: the first is a writer who believes in the power of the spirit and mind, while the second is the more rational and scientific mind. The two roam the London of the late nineteenth century in search of adventure, and I found a very special ... and dangerous.
The novel is a staple of fantasy literature. Can be considered a hermetic Decameron, a collection of stories told by mysterious figures, which have the theme of adventure and the supernatural. The sources of inspiration are more The Thousand and One Nights and in general everything Robert Louis Stevenson, the great literary reference to Machen. For the record find themselves in contact with the bomber and
Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.
This work, like all of Machen, stand as the basis and starting point for all the precious writings of HP Lovecraft, Machen he considered a master and a reference point. A story in the novel seems directly inspired many episodes of Cthulhu cycle.
The evolution of the novel is circular: the finale brings us directly to the point where the player is gone. The London described a mysterious world, cosmopolitan, the true center of the world, the true magic capital. Is mixed with the typical adventure of the late nineteenth century English literature along with a great interest in the fantstico and obscurity.

That is an interesting figure of Machen and sadly misunderstood, which has inspired a lot of genre fiction of the twentieth century. Not only Lovecraft, Fritz Leiber, but also (another great forgotten). The passion for the fantasy genre seems to stem from his association with the esoteric group "Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn." The most famous work, however Machen The Great God Pan (1890) , where nature appears as something mysterious and terrible violence, embodied in the ancient figure of Pan ...
The three impostors is a cornerstone of English literature of the late nineteenth century and an excellent starting point to find an imaginative writer, never boring and not at all common as Machen. To learn about
Machen see the Italian page wiki, then moved to the English in which is more complete. Here is a rather comprehensive site in English dedicated to the author.
